Frequently Asked Questions
Q : What wax do you use?
A : We hand-pour a 100% coconut-soy blend for a cleaner, longer burn, and absolutely no paraffin wax which can produce much larger amounts of toxins and soot.
Q : How long will my candle burn?
A : About 30-45 hours with proper wick-trimming and burn sessions of roughly 4 hours.
Q : What are the “frosty” white crystals I sometimes see on the jar?
A : That snow-like haze is called frosting. It’s a natural trait of pure soy and coconut-soy wax as it cools and the plant-based molecules re-crystallize. It won’t affect scent, burn time, or safety—in fact, it’s a reassuring sign your candle is made with real botanical wax rather than paraffin. Enjoy the burn!
Q : Won't my candle melt in transit?
A : Great question. While we take measures to help prevent this, such as packing in thermal bubble wrap and shipping only on Mondays and Tuesdays, heat damage is entirely possible. This method works quite well though.
Q : Can I pick up locally?
A : Yes—visit Revive Boutique, 116 E 1st St., Dixon IL (Tue–Fri 10-5, Sat 10-3). However purchases must be made through Revive Boutique if you wish to pickup locally and not purchased through this online store.
Q : How can I get the strongest scent throw?
A : Let the melted wax pool reach the jar’s edge (about 3 hours) on the first burn, and keep doors/windows closed for a bit so that fragrance has time to fill the room. Later burns will normally form a full melt pool quicker and typically have an even better scent throw. Candle wax can have a sort of memory, and establishing the initial burn memory can really help.
Q : Why should I trim the wick every time, and what do you mean you want me to dunk it?
A : A ¼-inch wick gives a steady, very low soot flame and extends burn time. Long wicks create excess heat, mushrooming, and smoke and can actually burb off the fragrance oil. If too much carbon accumulates on the wick (mushrooming), you can simply try trimming the wick a little shorter. Wick dipping - We recommend using a wick dipper or safe metal tool (even a spoon), and to extinguish the flame by dipping the wick into the melted wax. This helps prevent smoke from filling the room when blowing out a candle, and it also primes the wick for the next burn.
Q : What size room will a candle fill with fragrance?
A : For one 7oz candle, we recommend using in smaller rooms in your home or office. Typically these candles will fill a 10X10 foot room. Some fragrances are stronger than others.
Q : Which scents are strong and which are mild?
A : While there will be some variation candle to candle, and people's noses have different opinions, typically your floral scents can fill a room faster and have further reach. Fruity type of scents can have good reach as well but may not feel as potent. Things that contain spice or are bakery like scents such as vanilla, cinnamon, pumpkin, these can be a little more mild and warm feeling overall, but it can still vary scent to scent and nose to nose.
Q : Can I reuse the jar?
A : Yes!—when just over ¼″ of wax remains, stop burning and allow the candle to cool on its own to room temperature and fully solidify again. Pop the jar in the freezer for an hour, and the wax disc should lift right out. Wash with warm, soapy water and repurpose for cotton swabs, spices, or succulents.
Q : Are your candles vegan and phthalate-free?
A : Yes—our coconut–soy wax, cotton wicks, and premium fragrance oils contain no animal-derived ingredients, lead, zinc, or added phthalates. All colorants are synthetic liquid dyes; to the best of our knowledge they’re also phthalate-free and vegan, but if you have specific sensitivities feel free to email us.
Q : Are your wicks lead-free?
A : Absolutely. We use cotton core wicks that contain zero lead or zinc.
Q : Do you ship internationally?
A : Not yet. We currently ship anywhere in the U.S. via USPS.
Always practice safety when burning candles!!!
